Ultramax 400 vs Portra 400 Reddit

Hello I own an Olympus OM-G and normally buy Superia 400 but I wanted to buy something different. Now, I am going to Iceland in a week and wanted your opinion on whether to get Portra 400 or Ultramax. Portra comes out to about $45 on Amazon and Ultramax comes out to $15 (I could buy x3 as many rolls) Portra 800 vs Portra 400 vs Ektar 100, etc. Your camera should be have a place where you set this speed (ISO) and it will then suggest aperture settings and shutter speed accordingly. My suggestion is to get a few rolls of cheaper film and try to get the hang of it, Kodak UltraMax 400 would do the trick and it still looks pretty great After looking at some daytime Portra 400 shots on reddit, I'm not that impressed with some of the daytime shots, it seems like the grain is somewhat enlarged and some scenes just do not look as good as the low light 400 photos I've seen. I'm wondering if more people should try Portra 160. My two cameras are a Minolta 70, and IQZoom 160 (P&S)

Portra 400, Ultramax 400 or Superia? : analog - reddit

Kodak Ultramax 400. Kodak Ultramax 400 is a film that somehow always manages to sneak its way into at least one of my cameras. It's cheap and available nearly everywhere, and truly does a great job in just about every situation (for proof, check out our in-depth film profile on the stuff). On the outside, Ultramax 400 isn't anything to shout about bo_tew. · 1y. Personally I like Gold 200 slightly more than Proimage 100, it feels warmer and slightly more contrasty. (There are rumors that Lomo 100 is the same/similar to gold 200, and Lomo 100 is my fav cheap film) Ultramax 400 is similar but I don't see the need to use a 400 speed film over 200 especially since it is more expensive

What is Kodak Ultramax 400. Ultramax 400 is Kodak's do-it-all consumer-grade film. It's a general-purpose, daylight-balanced, color negative film with a sensitivity of ISO 400 (27º). It offers fine grain, deep saturation, and wide exposure latitude, and all of these traits make it well-suited to enlarging, and for digitization through scanning So, my question is, which of the two main consumer grade 400 asa films - Kodak Ultramax & Fuji Superia - would you recommend if you couldn't have Portra. I've got rolls of Portra 400, Fuji Pro 400H, and Ektar in 120 format, so I'm ok on that front. Thanks Kodak Ultramax 400- The Underrated champion. The Jackie Robinson of film rolls. If you see this and Portra 400 is nowhere to be found, this a fantastic option to capture your art. It has warm color saturation so that you can shoot people with ease and high color contrast, which is also great to take landscape pictures Une balade photo où je compare 3 émulsions couleur de Kodak: le Portra 400, l'Ultramax 400 et le Gold 200.J'utilise à cette fin deux des mes compacts des ann..

Each shot was taken at EI 400, 200 and 100 respectively Also, if Superia isn't your cup of tea, I'd definitely recommend Kodak Ultramax 400. It was my go to film for a very long time and is only slightly more expensive than Superia and way cheaper than Portra. Some even say that Ultramax is B-stock Portra but to my eye there are too many differences in color rendering Kodak Portra 400 is an ISO 400/27° daylight-balanced professional colour negative films introduced in 1998 and made originally for portrait and wedding applications. Like Portra 160, the film was formerly available in Natural Color (NC) and Vivid Color (VC) variations, before being updated in 2010, when both were replaced with.

What is available here in my country the Philippines from Kodak was C100 and C200, ProPhoto100 (the one that comes in 5-pack boxes) and Kodak Gold 400. Sometimes the rare E100 Ektachrome pops up. For black and white it's just TMax 400. For Fujicolor, what we have here is just the regular Fujicolor 100, 200 and 400 Among Kodak's current low-to-medium speed color films, Portra 160 and 400 have 28 and 37 units respectively, and Ektar comes in at less than the threshold of 25. The number goes up with consumer films. Kodak Gold 200 is measured at 44 units with Ultramax slightly higher at 46. Pro Image fits in with the other consumer films at 43 units 5 Frames of portraits in Shillong on Kodak Portra 400 (35mm Format / EI 400 / Canon AE 1- Program + Canon FD 50mm f/1.8) - by Tashdique Mehtaj I had developed a habit or better say GAS since I got my first vintage lens the Helios 44-2 58mm f2

The Portra family of film was launched in 1998, and available in three speeds - 160, 400, and 800, with the 160 and 400 speeds breaking down further into VC (Vivid Color) and NC (Natural Color) variants, both of which my fellow CP writer Drew covered in an earlier article. The Portra film stocks that are available today are a part of a mid. Portra 400 and Ektar 100 had always been my go to for anything important and Fuji Superia for a good cheap film, because it used to be really easy to find Kodak Ultramax 400 Overview: Kodak Ultramax 400, also known as Kodak Max 400, is a versatile consumer film for 35mm cameras with a decent amount of saturation and grain Pushing Kodak Ultramax 400. 200 Speed film - why do most people use 400 and is it

Kodak Portra 400. Kodak Portra 400 is one of the most highly regarded film stocks of all time and is by far my favorite to shoot with. There is a good reason why it's so popular. It produces crazy beautiful colors, accurate skin tones (which is why people use it for portrait work so much), and keeps an insane amount of detail in the image When you buy film, there is usually a number behind the brand and type of film (ex: Kodak Ultramax 400, Kodak Gold 200). ISO is the camera's sensitivity to light. That setting will increase or decrease the light in your photo, therefore making it lighter or darker. As the ISO number increases, your photos will grow progressively brighter Using Portra 160 and Ultramax 400 those films just did not like my indoor lighting. I had to heavily Lightroom the results to get much of anything good. My iPhone 7+ camera did a much better job on the Christmas photos. Actually the 7+ has a killer camera in it. I got mine in November and am astonished by how well it balances the two cameras.

Another vote for the Fuji Superia. It is still available as 400 speed, and I'd take that over Gold 200 any day. I shot many, many rolls of Gold 200 back when I shot print film. It was cheap, universally available, good in any light. Looking back at those prints, they are invariably flat and blah Kodak UltraMax 400 - 35mm Film - 36 exp. From £8.50 GBP - £24.00 GBP. Our Fomapan Action 400 review gives an excellent overview of this budget, high speed black and white film.. portra 400 is too expensive and if you are just starting out in film it will make you not want to continue. Seriously, just shoot superia or ultramax. But I understand the need to use good film for this comparison. Use a warming filter if you need to with cheaper films to play with the tone Fuji film simulations recipes are more powerful than you know.
